  • Create a new editor instance even if one is already open:

kate {{[-n|--new]}}

  • Open a file with the cursor at the specific line:

kate {{[-l|--line]}} {{line_number}} {{path/to/file}}

  • Open a file with the cursor at the specific line and column:
